How Can I Get Involved?

We extend a warm welcome to anyone interested in supporting the Pasture-Fed movement and the benefits it has to offer.  The Pasture-Fed Livestock Association is a grassroots organisation developed and led by its members for the furtherance of the movement – we hope that you will become a member of the PFLA community to help support running costs and add to our collective voice.  Alternatively you can choose to show your support by buying pasture-fed produce whenever possible.

We offer various levels of membership to reflect people’s interests, priorities and activities.  A description of the different forms of membership is given below and summarised here.

Friends of the PFLA costs £15 per annum and is ideally suited to those who are interested in supporting the general aims of the PFLA and who would like to be kept informed through a regular newsletter.

Full membership is designed for those who are producers, retailers, processors, caterers or who have a deeper professional interest in the pasture-fed livestock farming system. Available from £50 per year, benefits include the opportunity to be part of a local Pasture-Fed producer group, with access to the wider Pasture-Fed network, the potential for machinery sharing & other discounted services, the right to vote at meetings and to stand for election as a director, access to a full library of information and both access to & possible participation in research projects.

Approved supplier membership is required for the use of Pastoral symbol. Approved suppliers must be Full Members of the PFLA and are required to be approved and routinely audited to ensure they meet the requirements of the Production Standards. In addition to the flat membership fee, producers are subject to an annual headage payment based upon the number of Livestock Units (LSUs) covered by the licence. Processors and retailers do not have this further fee to pay but are still required to apply as an Approved Supplier and conform to the PFLA Standards before they can use the Pastoral Symbol. The benefits of approved supplier membership include the use of the Pastoral symbol on produce and access to marketing and promotional schemes.
